Welcome to the Met

A jewel in central Cape Town

Tucked between Green Point Urban Park and the sea, the Metropolitan is the most central golf course in Cape Town. Wide fairways and large, true greens make it a joy for every handicap, while the coastal wind and a par-3 finish over water keep the low markers honest.

Redesigned by architect Mark Muller and reopened in 2010, the Met pairs a genuinely playable layout with some of the best views in world golf.

  • Walk-on friendly, no handicap certificate required
  • Panoramic Table Mountain and ocean views from almost every hole
  • A relaxed clubhouse, halfway house and pro shop on site
Why golfers love the Met

A round like nowhere else in the city

Unbeatable location

The only championship-standard course in central Cape Town, on the doorstep of the city, the stadium and the Waterfront.

The views

Table Mountain, Signal Hill, the Atlantic and the Cape Town Stadium frame every shot you play.

The finish

A memorable par 3 over water to a green beneath the clubhouse. The kind of hole you talk about afterwards.

The welcome

Members, visitors and first-timers are all welcome. Smart-casual, soft spikes, and a warm 19th hole waiting.

The course

Nine holes, fourteen greens, endless variety

Playing to 14 separate greens and dual tees, the Met gives you a full and varied 18 from a compact, walkable course. Two par 5s, generous fairways and clever bunkering reward thought over brute force.

Course rating 70.4, slope 127. Bent-grass greens, kikuyu fairways, and four species of local rough.

Since 1895

More than a century of Cape Town golf

Founded in 1895 as the Green and Sea Point Golf Club, the Met has been part of the fabric of the city for over 125 years. It survived a war-time closure, a renaming in 1906, and a complete redesign when the Cape Town Stadium was built for 2010.

Today the heritage lives on, from the 1959 clubhouse to the Swedish cannon on display by the first tee.
